Статья посвящена развитию института египетской армии в период от обретения Египтом политической самостоятельности в 1922 г. до конца 1940-х гг., когда военная карьера стала считаться достаточно престижной среди среднего слоя и интеллигенции и когда выходцы из армейской среды сформировали движение «Свободных офицеров», в состав которого вошли будущие руководители Египта.

The article is dedicated to the development of the Egyptian army in the period from gaining political independence in 1922 till the end of 1940 when military career became more prestigious among the middle class and the intellectuals.
