Статья посвящена роли «Рыцарей Золотого круга» в формировании исторической памяти о Юге США периода Гражданской войны (1861- 1865). В исследовании прослеживается создание мифа о тайном ордене как идеологического инструмента в рамках регионального конфликта Севера и Юга и партийного противостояния демократов и республиканцев. В более широком теоретическом плане автор рассматривает проблему формирования исторической памяти нации с помощью конспирологических теорий.

The article focuses on the role of the “Knights of the Golden Circle” in the formation of historical memory about the US South during the American Civil War (1861-1865). The study traces the creation of the myth of the secret order as an ideological tool in terms of the regional conflict between the North and the South as well as party opposition Democrats vs. Republicans. In a broad theoretical sense, the author considers the construction of national historical memory by means of conspiracy theories.
