Spykman N. Political map of Eurasia. Part 2. (Transl. from eng. by M. Grachev)

Abstract

This article is the translation of the fragment from one of the chapters of well-known Nicholas J. Spykman’s book “The Geography of the Peace” (New York: Harcourt, Brace and Company, 1944) in which the author is critically rethinking British geographer Halford Mackinder’s ideas and pointing the crucial importance of “Rimland” includings the west, the south and the south-east coastal regions of Eurasia, in terms of the establishment of the control over the entire continent.
